First off, we look at everybody to see if teeth are in the proper position. Okay, I have never sent a person to an orthodontist in my entire career so that they looked better. I’ve only sent them so that they function better and they’re healthier.
Now it just so happens that if things are in the right position to function correctly, they also look the best because that’s we’re set up, that’s how our smile is set up. If the teeth are in the right position and the problem is color, they don’t like the color of their teeth, they can be bleached a number of different ways. They can have veneers placed on them if the coloration is so bad or there’s tooth structure missing or something.
We can do that for them. We can do simple things also that have a huge, huge impact on people. We’ll have people come in that have flattened teeth or little chips on their teeth or things that resulted from maybe habits, you know, putting a bobby pin in between their teeth.
As an example, I see people put keys in between their teeth when they open their door and chip things, but we take great care in analyzing the shape and stuff of someone’s smile because we can oftentimes in 10 minutes change that entire smile by reshaping those teeth. And I’ve done this lots and lots of times. And for our patients, I generally don’t even charge them to do it.
I just say, let’s look at this together. We put it up on our screens. We show them what they look like now.
What would you think if we did this, this, this, and this? And we will make those changes within 10 minutes, sometimes five minutes. We’ll put that picture up there and they’re absolutely blown away because instead of having these worn, flat, chipped teeth that make them look 20 years older than they actually are, now they have that more youthful smile with the correctly shaped teeth. You know, those kind of services are just fun to do.
The staff loves doing those. It has a big impact on people.
